Massive 79.2cm middle Nanbokucho Bizen Unju katana. This was a huge Enbun / Joji odachi of over 100cm in it’s day. One of the greats from Nanbokucho Bizen. Long kissaki, wide mihaba and mitsumune.
UNJŪ (雲重), 1st gen., Bunna (文和, 1352-1356), Bizen – “Bizen no Kuni-jū Unjū” (備前国住雲重), “Unjū” (雲重),“Bizen no Kuni Ukai-jū Unjū” (備前国宇甘住雲重), son of the 2nd gen. Unshō (雲生), some sources list him also as son of the 1st gen. Unji (雲次), we know blades from the Bunna to the Ōan era (応安, 1368-1375), somewhat standing-out itame mixed with mokume, suguha mixed with ko-gunome and/or ko-chōji, also suguha with ashi, jō-saku
